The Definitive Guide To Hoop Earrings

The Definitive Guide To Hoop Earrings
If you’re in the market for some hoops, you've come to the right place! It can be a true struggle to find your own personalized style without feeling like you’re copying the trends (while still being trendy…it's a real BALANCE out here, guys). Personal fashion is a choice we make each day, and it can be hard to know what to like! However, we know one thing that is FACT– hoop earrings are for everyone. Whatever your style, gender, geographic location, or how you take your coffee, hoop earrings are for Y O U. The best earrings are the ones that don’t hurt your ears (shout out to you sensitive piercing friends out there), don’t tarnish, and you can swim, sweat, + shower in. Life-proof, if you will.

This is all good news for you because you’re about to go on a hoop earring journey. The best part? All of these hoops are perfect for those of you who want earrings you can wear everyday and not worry about taking them in and out if you don’t want to! And a bonus?! Each hoop you’re shown will be unique, handmade jewelry made by a woman-owned business in Eau Claire, Wisconsin!
Let’s get right into it!

huggie vs. non-huggie earring

“Huggie” means the hoop wraps so close to your earlobe that it looks like it’s giving your ear a little “hug”– how cute!

Little huggie hoops are great for an everyday look that is minimalist, simple, and dainty.  Our favorite huggie hoops are the Tiny Hoops, and Beaded Huggie Hoops. However, if a huggie isn’t your style, you can achieve a simple jewelry look with non-huggie hoops. Non-huggie hoops have a bit more dangle to them, so if you’re into dangling gold earrings, then we have just what you need! The best selling dangle hoops are the Bold Hoops, who truly live up to their name – they come in different hoop earring sizes, from 14mm up to 28mm. If you’re someone with multiple piercings on each ear, then you can have the best of both worlds—a larger hoop on your first piercing, and a huggie on your second, CUTE!

Textured vs. Smooth Hoops

If you like fun earrings that catch the light and add a little extra sparkle, then we highly recommend getting yourself some hoops that are textured. Some examples of textured hoops are the Cypress Hoops (lightly hammered to catch the light), Ophelia Hoops, and Twisted Tiny Hoops. These three hoops are the best for everyday wear, but are truly so fun to dress up as well. However, if you like to keep things simple we highly recommend Everyday Hoops or Endless Hoops. These hoops aren’t textured, and provide that simple and sleek look that never goes out of style. If you’re torn between textured and non-textured hoops, GET READY. We have the perfect hoop earrings with charm, texture, and smooth edges that are the ideal compromise: the Ora Hoops! These hoops have a smooth outside, floral detailing on the inside. It’s giving bold, simple, textured, and everyday ALL AT ONCE! How was that achieved? Truly just a stroke of genius + now the gold hoop earring of the season.

Wanna add charms?

There’s nothing we love more than a little charm moment. A bracelet, necklace, or earring charm can really add such a fun and personal element to your jewelry game. If you’re looking to add Hoop Charms to your ear party (because, YES, it’s a party) then you’re going to need a pair of Bold Hoops, Cypress Hoops, or Endless Hoops–all great choices for various reasons already mentioned. Earring charms for hoops are impeccable for days you want to add a little extra statement to your stack. Some of our favorite stacks for hoop charms are a Gemma Charm, Rory Charm (charms for those who are on the lookout for some pearl dangle earrings), and a Lover Charm all on one ear (if you have the piercings for it). Otherwise some of our stamped charms (like the Butterfly or Wave charms) look so great with your hair “slicked back” + a simple tank. We also love to dress up a cartilage piercing by adding the smallest size Endless Hoop, and adding a little dangle to the mix with a Honey Charm!

Raise your hand if you’re in the “I wish I had more piercings” club!

So sorry to cause this, but in the last section we DID discuss many earring combinations that might not work for you if you have one or two piercings. FRET NOT: we do have a solution for ya. The Tiny Twists (smooth, or textured!) are the optimum huggie hoop for those who want to have one more piercing. It creates the illusion of two piercings where there’s really just one. Maybe it’s worth it for you to get more piercings, but if you’re not in that camp–the Tiny Twists are your new BFF.
We can even take it a step further. What if you have NO piercings where you wish you had them. More good news: it’s time to try an ear cuff on for a size. The Double Up Ear Cuff gives the illusion of two piercings! These are terrific for the cartilage area on your ear, but we also love to use it as a faux nose ring! The perfect solution for people who are keloid prone. Additionally, The rest of our Ear Cuff Collection should win a prize for giving us what we all REALLY want: more ear party, less ear piercing.
